Bethesda Game Studios has recently responded to questions regarding the development status of The Elder Scrolls VI. However, aside from confirming that the project is still moving forward, the studio did not disclose any substantial details. In a recent interview with Game Informer, studio director Angela Browder, director and executive producer Todd Howard, and lead designer Emil Pagliarulo jointly stated that development is progressing well, but no release window was provided.
Angela spoke candidly, saying:
“All I can say is that development is ongoing! The time pressure from players doesn’t affect us. Games on the scale of GTA require long development cycles to be properly refined. What players truly want is a carefully roasted turkey, not half-cooked fast food.”
Todd added:
“Most of the team is focused on the sixth installment, but we’re used to advancing multiple projects in parallel. Of course, we’d like things to move faster, but quality always comes first for us.”
Emil pointed out that advances in hardware technology have opened up new possibilities for development, noting that:
“As developers, the limitless potential of The Elder Scrolls VI is incredibly exciting.”
The developers emphasized the importance of not putting excessive pressure on themselves, but since the game was announced with a concept teaser far too early, player expectations have continued to build over time. While Todd has urged fans to remain patient, there is concern that if the final product fails to live up to the long wait, it could repeat the lukewarm reception seen at the launch of Starfield.
