CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 4 has continued to progress steadily since entering full production a year ago, with the team size slightly increasing to 447 developers. Based on the Unreal Engine 5 tech demo released last June, the project has already showcased numerous promising ideas. However, co-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated clearly on Twitter that no new content for the game will be revealed at The Game Awards on December 11.
Nowakowski expressed his delight at The Witcher 4 being nominated for “Most Anticipated Game”: “Thanks to all the players who have already voted—your support means a lot. We won’t be bringing new content to this year’s TGA, but the team is as excited as ever to enjoy the show with everyone and celebrate this grand night for the game industry.” The game previously made its debut at last year’s ceremony with an opening CG trailer featuring Ciri.
CDPR has confirmed that the open-world RPG will not launch before 2027 and is still in active development. The studio emphasized that the tech demo is not part of the actual game but merely “an early presentation of the cutting-edge technologies that will be used to build it.” So far, it has been revealed that The Witcher 4 will utilize Unreal Engine frameworks, MetaHuman, smart objects, Nanite vegetation, and other technologies to construct its world. Recently, the studio also hired Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 designer Karel Kolman as a senior quest designer.
