CD Projekt has ramped up development on Cyberpunk 2, though no new content will be shown at the 2025 Game Awards. According to disclosures from the company’s Q3 2025 financial results meeting, the Boston studio has expanded its team to speed up work on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. As of July 31, 2025, 116 developers were involved in the project; by October 31, the team had grown by another 19 members, reaching a total of 135.
In September 2025, Keanu Reeves said in an interview that he is very willing to return for the sequel: “I’d absolutely love to play Johnny Silverhand again.” Earlier in May, Cyberpunk universe creator Mike Pondsmith revealed that the sequel will introduce a new Chicago-inspired city in addition to Night City. He emphasized that this new location will portray a “runaway, unrestrained version of Chicago,” ensuring it does not resemble Blade Runner’s visual style.
